Hi, I’m COURTNEY.
I am a registered clinical counsellor offering virtual counselling services, based in Vancouver, BC.
I work collaboratively with individuals to create a space where clients can feel seen and heard as they navigate life’s challenges. I encourage clients to show up in sessions just as they are.
I use a trauma-informed narrative therapy approach to work collaboratively with my clients as they build resilience, reflect on their experiences, heal, and grow. I am dedicated to fostering an environment of safety, understanding, and acceptance. I believe that creating a strong foundation of self-knowledge equips clients to make meaningful shifts to create the lives they want.
As a member of the queer community, I feel passionate about supporting fellow 2SLGBTQI+ folks. My areas of focus include perinatal mental health, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma, gender, and identity.
“We think we tell stories, but stories often tell us, tell us to love or hate, to see or be seen. Often, too often, stories saddle us, ride us, whip us onward, tell us what to do, and we do it without questioning. The task of learning to be free requires learning to hear them, to question them, to pause and hear silence, to name them, and then become a story-teller.”
- Rebecca Solnit
I believe that all clients are the experts in their own lives and have the inherent wisdom of knowing what is right for them.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy focuses on the stories that we tell about ourselves and our lives. Together we can explore the meanings of these stories, their impact, and the ways in which we can re-author new narratives to move towards establishing a more positive and empowered sense of self.
Feminist Therapy
Feminist therapy is an empowering and inclusive approach to psychotherapy. Grounded in feminist principles, feminist therapy recognizes the importance of social justice and equality in the healing process as well as the impacts of gender, power, and privilege.
